Squash on Thursdays

Every Thursday some of the year 5/6 students go down to the squash courts behind the club Waimea. Our instructor/coach is Mike, he helps us get better at squash and then on the next couple of courts Mr Searle our teacher sets up some games to play. He also to helps us with skills and organises us as if we were in a tournament. To get to squash we have some of the parents to drive us there. At squash there are rackets provided and safety goggles and when your playing a game there are sometimes the big balls or little balls. We have a couple more sessions and were all enjoying them; the're really great fun.

In the photo Jamie is helping by serving an easy shot for Riley to practice his returns.

Touch Rugby with Garin College

At our school this term the year 5-6 have had a great time with the Garin students because  Garin comes over to our school and teaches us touch rugby skills so we can improve. We have been put into teams and everyone is in a team. They have been teaching us skills like passing in a line, running up in a line, little games, getting back to five quickly when you have made your touch, when you have finshed you go for a cool down, run and pass before you get touched and lots more. A good book we have been reading

This story Luca and I read is about two boys Tas and Josh.  They were throwing a ball around at school and a boy named Eddie saw how good they were with their rugby skills.  He said they should join the league team.  But they wanted to play Rugby Union.  They got a team together at the local club and they were GOOD.  They were a skilled team and had lots of wins.
I recommend this book 100% because it is a good book for kids who like to read about rugby.  By Fraser

Mr Searles dogs Pogo and Mister playing with Nicola

Mr Searles dogs pogo and mister
Mr Searle said that Nicola had been very good for the past couple of days, so Nicola's reward is getting to play with Mr Searles dogs Pogo and Mister. Mr Searle brought his dogs to school today and Nicola and some friends have been playing with Pogo and Mister. They have been taking Pogo and Mister for walks around the school and taking photos, and Mr Searle showed us a video about having fun with dogs.  It was about having tennis balls, a tennis racket and some treats. You chuck the ball up and hit it far and the dogs run for it, and if they don’t give the ball back try trade some treats for the ball. And that's what Nicola is doing today. The dogs are not very big and they're really cool. They are all having great fun!
